A death notice can be as short as 25-30 words — just the name, age, date of death, and service details. A short obituary with personality and key facts is typically 50-100 words.
At minimum: full name, age, city of residence, date of death, and service/memorial details. Everything else — biography, survivors, donations — is optional but recommended.
Include one specific detail that captures the person's essence. 'An avid gardener whose roses were the envy of the neighborhood' says more than a paragraph of generic praise.
